Already an experienced reader on JACKANORY, Jan was an obvious and highly popular choice to lend her dulcet tones to introducing titles past and present to a whole new audience via tape and disc during the boom in audio books in the 80s and 90s.

Concentrating mainly on children's titles, Jan has read (and sometimes sung on) well over 100 works for children alone, delighting young listeners and, judging by the feedback reviews on internet sites, earning the gratitude of parents.

Jan's reading skills have also been utilised on more adult titles, both classic and contemporary, and her readings can be regularly heard on the digital radio spoken word station ONE WORD.

Other radio credits include reading the story (and poetry) on Radio 4's WOMAN'S HOUR, although, surprisingly perhaps, seemingly only one radio play...

[And the call from DESERT ISLAND DISCS has yet to come (or, more likely, has been declined)...]
